Robredo more interested than Bongbong for SC to settle election case

Robredo, a staunch critic of the abuses under the Marcos regime, declared she was confident the SC, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal, will dismiss the electoral protest filed by Marcos.

“The biggest issue is the first cause of action. That was dismissed so we are confident. We are just waiting,” she told reporters in Cauayan, Isabela.

The Vice President wished for the protest against her to be speedily resolved as soon as possible.

“We think in the soonest possible time, the other causes of action would be dismissed,” the 52-year-old former housing chief said in a mix of English and Filipino.

Robredo was a keynote speaker at last Friday’s 17th National Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Congress held in Isabela.

The event was held to review the current status of approaches on public employment in the country. It also served as a platform for PESO managers to share best practices on facilitation of employment.

The Vice President then flew to Nueva Vizcaya later that day for the Lakbay Kwento, where she shared the life story of her husband, Jesse Robredo, by reading the children’s book, “Nay, Ano Ang Bayani?” to the students of the Bintawan South Elementary School.

Asked to comment on Marcos’ claim that once the counting of ballots begins, the PET would decide on the case within the year, Robredo said it is to her best interest that the protest is resolved right away.

“We know the case they filed is baseless. Their first cause of action was denied. They said themselves they would no longer present witnesses. That is why if someone is interested for this to immediately end, it would be us,” she stressed.
