Action star Robin Padilla is well-known as a very proud and patriotic Filipino. The actor’s recently talked about controversies seemed to all stem from his deep love for the country. Everyone remembers the time that he forcefully urged a Korean contestant on “Pilipinas Got Talent” to speak in Filipino because that is how what he believes is a sign of respect for our country.

This radical view has earned him the ire and praise of a lot of netizens. But his wife, Mariel Rodriguez-Padilla, stepped in to defend her husband by saying that Robin’s love for the Philippines is hard to comprehend. She tried to explain it by saying that if he was to choose between their family or the country, the actor would choose the latter.

Yet, on a lighter note, Mariel captured an adorable moment wherein Robin tried to pass his patriotism to his youngest daughter Maria Isabella Padilla. The viral Instagram video showed the veteran actor, who looked like he just woke up, spending time with his child and patiently teaching her to speak in Tagalog.

Isabella was engrossed in a children’s book and showed her father a picture of a cat which she proceeded to call “Meow.” Robin tried his best to get his daughter to say “pusa” which resulted in a funny exchange between the two. There were a lot of amused netizens who shared how much they enjoyed the banter between Robin and Isabella.

“Hehe ang kulit. Meow nga daw po eh.”

“Hahahaha cute ni Isabella meow nga daw eh ang kulit nman ni daddy Robin…. hehehe“

VIRAL POST: Homeless man repays benefactor by fighting off burglars

As an old anecdote goes, you learn the true character of a man by looking at what he does or gives to someone who has nothing to give in return, like, for instance, a homeless man.

Following this logic, a netizen that goes by the Facebook name of Khen Bernard Du Dionisio has consistently proven the strength of his character and the kindness of his heart. See, a homeless man has taken refuge in front of his home.

As he recounted on his Facebook post, he would give the homeless man food and cash from time to time, when he had extra to give.

Khen’s compassion for the homeless man is obviously not born out of mutual interest, as he probably never thought the day would come when all his good deeds would be repaid.

Still, the universe moves in mysterious ways.

One day, Khen made his way to a nearby food chain and immediately felt that something was off. He couldn’t even finish his food as he couldn’t shake the feeling that something was amiss.

He ended up rushing home, feeling as if some mysterious magnetic force was drawing him in. As it turns out, his gut did not fail him.

When he finally arrived at home, he found out that he failed to lock his door properly . Two burglars were attempting to get in, but couldn’t.

Why?

Well, the homeless man Khen had taken to helping out every once in a while stood up to the burglars. He fought them, effectively stalling their evil plans, until help arrived at the scene.

Humbled by the experience of the homeless man risking his life for someone who isn’t even related to him, Khen took to Facebook to tell the story of the man’s heroic bravery.

Netizens couldn’t help but praise the homeless man, with some even suggesting good ways to further help him have a better life. He deserves it.

What can you say about this story? If you were in Khen’s shoes, what would you have done the moment you saw the homeless man fighting off the burglars? How do you think we can all help this heroic man? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!

The Quezon Memorial Circle is a national park located inside a large traffic circle in the shape of an ellipse bounded by the Elliptical Road. People usually recognize it by the tall mausoleum which houses the remains of former President Manuel L. Quezon. Throughout the years, it has served as an area of recreational space and a sort of lifestyle hub.

The memorial circle has three layouts, which include the Quezon Memorial Shrine, three museums (QCX, Quezon Heritage House, Museo ni Manuel L. Quezon, and Presidential Car Museum), spaces for recreation (Seminar Hall, Century Hall, and People’s Hall), and several gardens and monuments.

It is a public place that generally caters to all kinds of activities that are supposed to be for everyone. However, a group of students caught a particular couple who couldn’t wait to do their deed in a private, enclosed space. Robredo more interested than Bongbong for SC to settle election case

Robredo, a staunch critic of the abuses under the Marcos regime, declared she was confident the SC, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal, will dismiss the electoral protest filed by Marcos.

“The biggest issue is the first cause of action. That was dismissed so we are confident. We are just waiting,” she told reporters in Cauayan, Isabela.

The Vice President wished for the protest against her to be speedily resolved as soon as possible.

“We think in the soonest possible time, the other causes of action would be dismissed,” the 52-year-old former housing chief said in a mix of English and Filipino.

Robredo was a keynote speaker at last Friday’s 17th National Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Congress held in Isabela.

The event was held to review the current status of approaches on public employment in the country. It also served as a platform for PESO managers to share best practices on facilitation of employment.

The Vice President then flew to Nueva Vizcaya later that day for the Lakbay Kwento, where she shared the life story of her husband, Jesse Robredo, by reading the children’s book, “Nay, Ano Ang Bayani?” to the students of the Bintawan South Elementary School.

Asked to comment on Marcos’ claim that once the counting of ballots begins, the PET would decide on the case within the year, Robredo said it is to her best interest that the protest is resolved right away.

“We know the case they filed is baseless. Their first cause of action was denied. They said themselves they would no longer present witnesses. That is why if someone is interested for this to immediately end, it would be us,” she stressed.

President Duterte Signed Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Election this year

The Commission on Elections tests polling equipment in this file photo taken in Barangay Linmansangan in Alaminos City. President Rodrigo Duterte has signed the bill postponing the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections this year.

President Rodrigo Duterte signed into law on Tuesday Republic Act 10953 postponing the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) elections to 2018.

Communications Secretary Martin Andanar confirmed this in a text message to INQUIRER.net.

Asked if the President signed on Tuesday the bill postponing the said elections, he replied, “Yes.”

The new law was signed less than a month before the scheduled barangay and SK elections on October 23.

The copy of the law, released by Malacañang, stated that the synchronized barangay and SK elections would be postponed to the second Monday of May 2018.

The law stated “incumbent barangay officials shall remain in office” until their successors shall have been duly elected and qualified.

It said the subsequent synchronized barangay and SK elections shall be held on the second Monday of May 2020 and every three years thereafter.

Duterte has repeatedly said he wanted to postpone the elections, claiming local officials would use drug money to influence the elections.

OFW Umiiyak na Humihingi ng Tulong Kay Raffy Tulfo Dahil Sa Kanyang Sitwasyon

Saudi Arabia has a deep cultural belief that it is socially acceptable to hit a woman to discipline a spouse. Ever since then, there have been numerous cases of domestic violence that have gone unnoticed.

Recently, an OFW named Luzminda Romulo from Davao has posted a video and picture on Facebook crying for help regarding the abuse that she’s allegedly experiencing from her male employer. She has called on the attention of Raffy Tulfo, a popular TV and radio personality, to help her get back to our country.

“Pagdating ko sa taas, nag cr po ako sir. Di ko namalayan pumasok na sya sa kwarto ko. Tinanong ko sya kung anong ginagawa nya sa kwarto ko at sabi nya magpapahilot daw sya.” “Pero, sinagot ko sya na di kasama sa kontrata ko yan. Kontrata ko bahay lang, hindi yan kasali. Natakot na ako dahil madaming beses na nya yan ginawa sa akin.”

Luzminda said.

She also mentioned that she’s afraid to tell her female employer because her 5 months’ worth of salary is still with them. Even though she wants to report the issue, she feels helpless because she doesn’t have any way to contact the authorities for help especially the agency who hired her for the position.

Many Filipino Facebook users have shared their anger and frustration to Luzminda’s employer regarding the alleged abuse in the Facebook post.

One user commented,

“Dapat binibigyan pansin ang mga ganitong problema. Kung ganyan ugali ng mga lalaki ng Saudi, dapat hnd na cla binibigyan ng tao maging ksambahay dito sa Pilipinas.”

Another user said,

“Hindi po kasi basta basta pwedeng magsumbong sa amo na babae kasi madalas ikaw pa ang babaliktarin ng amo at mas lalo kang pag iinitan, hindi din basta makalabas kung wala sa kanya yung ikama nya! tulungan nlabg nten syang ishare para mkarating ang kay raffy tulfo at pag punta ng nga taga embassy kala ate dretso alis na sya, kasi kung mqiiwan pa sya ay baka ano na ang gawin sa kanya!”

Robin Padilla claims dragon tattoo is reason he couldn't leave the country

Robin Padilla said he could not think of any reason why he was barred from leaving the Philippines by the Bureau of Immigration, except for his dragon tattoo.

Tattoos, specifically dragon tattoos, have been in the spotlight recently due to Senator Antonio Trillanes IV's claims that presidential son Paolo Duterte is a member of the triad, a notorious Asian organized crime ring.

This, Trillanes said, could be proven by a dragon tattoo which, he claimed, Paolo has on his back. The tattoo is supposedly a known symbol of the triad.

Paolo said that he does have a tattoo but refused to confirm what kind. (READ: 'Ano kami, uto-uto?' Paolo Duterte's lawyer hits Trillanes)

Robin, who was convicted of illegal possession of firearms in 1994 and fully pardoned by President Rodrigo Duterte late last year, took to Instagram to express his dismay over the situation.

"Sa hindi maipaliwang na pangyayari ay hindi ako makakaalis ng bansa dahil ako ay may hold order sa Bureau of Immigration. Napakagulo ng naganap na ito sapagkat noong ako'y conditional pardon lamang kailanman ay hindi ako nagkaroon ng suliranin sa pag-alis ng Inangbayan pero ngayon na absolute pardon na ako ay ngayon pa ako nabiyayaan ng hold order ng BI."

(For some unexplained reason, I will not be able to leave the country because of a hold depature order from the Bureau of Immigration. This is very confusing because when I was still under conditional pardon, I never had a problem leaving the country but now that I've been granted absolute pardon, the BI chose to give me a hold order.)

"Baka pati ako ay TRIAD na rin. Naku po naman baka ipatawag pa ako ng Senado, aba'y hindi ko kayo tatanggihan game ako dyan. Nakapanghihina naman po ang binabayaran kong malaking tax kung palagi akong kasama sa usual suspect," he said.

(I might also be accused of being part of the triad. My goodness, if the the Senate calls me, I won't decline, I'm game to attend. The huge taxes I pay will make me feel weak if I'm always included as one of the usual suspects.)

According to an Inquirer report, BI spokesperson and lawyer Maria Antonette Mangrobang said that all orders against Robin were lifted after he was granted executive clemency in November 2016.

"Negative po talaga sa records ng BI Port Operations Division that Robinhood Padilla went through immigration procedure in the last 7 days, nor do we have any record that he was not allowed to depart recently," she said.

(The BI Port Operations Division did not see any record of Robinhood Padilla going through immigration procedure in the last 7 days, nor we have any record that he was not allowed to depart recently.)

Robin said he was invited by the Princess of Sulu to an event to celebrate the friendship ties of the Philippines and China. But when he got to the airport, he was surprised to find out he was not allowed to leave.
